David R. Garrett  (Writer/Director) has been actively involved

in theatre for over 30 years. A graduate of Auburn

University, Garrett was a member of the Auburn University

Singers where he performed at Lincoln Center in New York

City, the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and various other

locations throughout the United States. Garrett has worked

with numerous theatre companies including Town & Gown

Theatre, Terrific New Theatre, Birmingham Children’s Theatre,

Birmingham Festival Theatre, ACTA Theatre and The

Painted Rock Players. He also served 4 years as Artistic

Director at the Levite Jewish Community Center. Garrett’s

stage roles include, Will Parker (Oklahoma), Judas (Jesus

Christ Superstar), Toddy (Victor,Victoria) Paul (A Chorus

Line), Benny Southstreet (Guys and Dolls) and Evil Eye

Fleagle (L’il Abner). Other acting credits include roles in

Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Boy Friend, Camelot, 110

in the Shade, Evita, Cabaret and Seven Brides for Seven

Brothers. Garrett also performed as a cast member in

Southern Living’s At Home production at the Gaylord Grand

Ole Opry Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. An

avid stage director, Garrett lists The Bad Seed, Gypsy, The

King and I, Cabaret, The Diary of Anne Frank, Nunsense

and Inspecting Carol as some of his favorite productions.

His writing credits include “Covering Dish” (a southern

comedy) which has been performed by numerous theatre

companies and he co-authored the comedy Off Broadway.

His other writing credits include Eternal Flames, The Way

We Were When A Star Was Born, One Little Word, Pushing

Buttons and O Holy Knight. Garrett also wrote the screenplay

The Final Cut for Ohio University which went on to win

several top film festival awards. In his spare time, Garrett

works as a law librarian for Maynard, Cooper and Gale

and lives a quiet life with his dog Morrie.

Don Everett Garrett  (Consultant,

Co-Writer) has beenperforming for over 30 years.

 In college he was a member of the prestigious Auburn

University Singers where he performed twice at the 

Lincoln Center in New York City. Don had the honor of

performing for such notables as President Ronald Reagan

and Governors George Wallace and Guy Hunt during his

tenure with the AU Singers. While at Auburn, Don Everett

shared the stage with George “Goober” Lindsey (best

known for his role on The Andy Griffith Show) and sang

back up vocals on an album by members of the

Commodores. He has appeared in productions at Town

and Gown Theater, Southern Play- Works, LAC, LJCC,

UAB, Vulcan Shorts, CenterStage, ACTA and Summerfest

(now Red Mountain Theatre Company.) He appeared in

the world premiere of The Phantom of the Opry

as Dusty Whitaker for CenterStage Productions and as

Commander Bill Harbison in the VST production of South

Pacific directed by Dane Peterson. He was most recently

seen in Red Mountain Theatre Company’s productions of

Oliver, The Music Man Concert with the Alabama

Symphony Orchestra and Damn Yankees. Other

appearances include A Christmas Carol

(Fezziwig/Choreographer) and Guys and Dolls (Nicely

Nicely Johnson) Don’s favorite performances include

Melvin P. Thorpe in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, The Bishop of Basingstoke in Jekyll and Hyde, and Mrs.

Meers in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Don Everett is the co-

author of Off Broadway and Hollywood Bound, originally

produced by Auburn University’s Department of Theatre.

Don Everett holds degrees from Auburn University and

Samford University. He is the Supervisor of Theatre,

Dance, and Debate for the Jefferson

County School System. Don is married to the lovely

Lisa Adams Garrett and has two sons, Everett and Joseph.

He wishes to thank this marvelous cast for always making

“it” work!

 

Holly Dikeman (Doreen Witherspoon) This is Holly’s first show at the LJCC, and she is very excited to be

a part of it. She was most recently seen as stepsister

Florida in the CenterStage production of Into the Woods.

Other stage credits include A Christmas Story (Mother

- her only non-musical role); Thoroughly Modern Millie

(Cora); Cabaret (Rosie), Guys & Dolls, Little Shop Of Horrors

(Chiffon), The King & I (Topsy), Cinderella (Portia),

The Phantom Of The Opry (Carly), 42nd Street (Anytime

Annie), and The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas (Angel).

She teaches dance at Corky Bell, and is a Human Resource

Professional for a local television network in real

life. Holly would like to thank Don, David and of course

Mario for this great opportunity, and the talented cast

and crew for being so easy to work with and providing

constant entertainment.

Kim Rollins Dometrovich (Donelle Tapscott) has been

involved in the Birmingham theatre scene for the past

nine years. She returns to the LJCC, having just finished

a run as Florence Unger in THE ODD COUPLE. She was

last seen here as Alice in MY FAVORITE YEAR. Among her

other favorite roles have been Reno in ANYTHING GOES,

Nellie in SOUTH PACIFIC, Eliza in MY FAIR LADY, Eulalie in

THE MUSIC MAN, and Mary Ann in GILLIGAN’S ISLAND:

THE MUSICAL. As her “real job” she works as a seamstress

and costume designer, and has costumed many

local theatre productions. She also works part-time as

a stagehand with IATSE Local 78. Thanks to Don, David

and Mario for giving her this chance to originate this role

with this amazing cast! As always, thanks to R.D. for his

love and support

Julia Hixson (Lanetta Whatley) returns to the LJCC

stage having most recently played Mother Abbess in The

Sound of Music. Other LJCC shows include Nunsense

& Meshuggah Nuns (Sister Hubert), A Funny Thing…

Forum (Domina), Cabaret (Fraulein Schneider), Gypsy

(Rose), The King and I (Lady Thiang), Diary of Anne Frank

(Mrs. Van Daan), and Victor/Victoria. You may also have

seen her performances with Magic City Actors Theatre:

Bye, Bye Birdie (Doris McAfee) and How to Succeed in

Business…(Miss Jones). Other shows include big, the musical,

Mame, Guys & Dolls, A Little Night Music, and Evita.

Julia holds a Masters in Music Education from Samford

University and teaches music at Montevallo Elementary

School. She wishes to thank the Brothers Garrett for the

privilege of being part of their productions. You both are

so talented. David, Lanetta will always be near and dear to

my heart! Don, thank you for a beautiful ballad; it really hit

home. Special thanks to my neighbors in the trailer park;

it’s been a blast, ladies! Shawny, thanks for making our

“lot” one of the swankiest on the block! Ron, what does

one say about a talent so flawless! And finally… Mario,

Baby, please come home soon, I miss you! As always, for

you Mom and Dad (Psalm 104: 33-34).

Lisa Garrett (Bebe Gibbs)  is thrilled to be in the premier

of Lots of Life. She was most recently seen on the LJCC

stage as Miss Sherman in Fame. Other favorite performances

include Fiddler on the Roof, The Best Little Whorehouse

in Texas, My Favorite Year, The Music Man, Anything

Goes, Annie, Jr., Gypsy, The Women, The Best Christmas

Pageant Ever, The Boyfriend and Carousel. Lisa wishes to

thank Don and David for the opportunity to originate the

role of “Bebe” and to work with such an outstanding cast,

crew and orchestra – it’s been a pleasure. A HUGE thanks

goes to Ron Dometrovich for orchestrating the music…

that was nice, real nice. And to Mario Lopez – thanks for

the laughs!! In addition to her wonderful and talented husband,

Don, Lisa would also like to thank their two sons,

Everett and Joseph, for their love and support. You guys

are the best!!!

Kim Hutchens (Sylvia Sidell) is beginning her third season

as the Artistic Director for the Theatre LJCC. She holds a

Bachelor’s degree in middle and secondary language arts

education and a master’s degree in gifted education from

Samford University. A nationally board certified teacher, Kim

has been teaching and directing theatre for the past twelve

years in the public school setting and in the Birmingham

theatre community. She has worked with numerous adult

musical productions, children’s productions, theatre camps/

workshops, and teacher workshops. Some of her directing

and choreography credits include West Side Story, You’re a

Good Man, Charlie Brown, Godspell, The Jungle Book, The

Hobbit, Charlotte’s Web, School House Rock, The Boyfriend,

Oklahoma!, Camelot, Bye Bye Birdie, Once on this Island,

Dear Edwina, Music Man, Cinderella, 101 Dalmatians,

and Sleeping Beauty. She is no stranger to the stage, last

playing Maxine in Sisters of Swing at Red Mountain Theatre

Company and Mrs. Darbus in Disney’s High School

Musical at the LJCC. Other credits include Beehive! and

(Grace) Annie both at RMTC, (Sister Amnesia) Nunsense,

(Narrator) Joseph…Dreamcoat both at LJCC, (Young Wife)

Hello Again at BFT, Summerfest’s and Parable Players

(Laurie) Oklahoma!, (Grace) Annie with the Parable Players,

(Rosumund) The Robber Bridegroom, (The Mistress)

Evita, Covering Dish, Closer than Ever at BFT and the ASO’s

Holiday Magic, and others. Her favorite role is that of wife

to her talented husband, Brent, and Mommy to the real

stars, her children Kelsey, Hunter, and Cody.
